In 2021, the central Shared Service Centre (SSC) continued its Sunrise journey (a project aiming at quality and efficiency improvements through standardisation) with the aim to drive ‘One Way of Working’ across Vion. Significant steps have been made to align and standardise processes between the Business Units Pork, Beef and Retail. And also to share best practices to drive process improvement.
Process improvement is measured in two areas according to the VOS principles:
- Quality: reduction in variation or site/business-specific exceptions
- Efficiency: productivity improvements gained from standardisation and automation
We were able to reduce variation and at the same time drive close to 20% efficiency across the SSC. These steps were also fuelled by the successful deployment of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and close collaboration with the Pork and Beef businesses on customer invoicing and livestock purchasing.
In the past year, Seda Marangoz coordinated closer collaboration and standardisation in these teams to enable a larger team structure across sites, the so-called cluster. The cluster structure allows the workload to be shared across sites to deal with peaks, holidays or sick leave and reduce business risk and the stress of backlogs. Recent organisational changes expanded Seda’s role in Crailsheim. Since the SSC wants to expand the cluster collaboration, the team will be strengthened.
Alma Waller will take over the SSC Indirect Team lead role as a 0.5 FTE as of 1 June, reporting to Bert Meinema. She will combine this with her current role as IM&T Project Manager for now, allowing her to complete ongoing Viper projects. Alma has great project management experience and recently delivered various Viper projects together with key stakeholders in the Viper billing process. In this role, she will continue to report to Alex Eekel.
We are also very pleased that Sara-Sophie Deitmer has joined the SSC team from 1 May in the role of Analyst. Sara-Sophie completed the ‘Ausbildung’ programme at Vion and worked at Vion in Emstek for almost eight years. Her process knowledge and Viper expertise will allow us to accelerate the alignment and operational integration of the cluster structure between the sites.
