Vion Groenlo officially opened its redesigned site on Friday 17 June. The new site, which has been expanded with a total area of 8500 m², is designed to be future-proof, equipped with a new porter's lodge and contributes to increasing animal welfare, biodiversity and road safety, among other things.

Shade and safer situation
On and around the new Vion Groenlo site, extra measures have been taken to improve traffic safety. For example, new access routes have been constructed for traffic entering and leaving the site, separating passenger cars from freight traffic. On-site parking facilities for employees have also been improved. In addition, shaded areas for livestock trucks have been set up to ensure animal welfare even on hot days.

Attention to biodiversity
The design of the new site also takes into account the stimulation of biodiversity, which is also one of the themes within Vion. A wide green belt with numerous flower beds and trees has been created around the entire site. In addition, a total of 12 metres has been cleared for insect hotels. Vion Groenlo worked with a landscaping company on the design and construction of the green belt.

From now on, water drainage is being collected in the site's own water storage tanks. Some of this water will be reused and the rest will be discharged in doses.

Opening of new site
John de Jonge (COO Vion Pork) officially opened the new Vion Groenlo last Friday. A barbecue was organised for the Vion Groenlo employees to celebrate the opening.
