It is announced today that after a career at Vion spanning almost 30 years, John de Jonge will be leaving the organisation on 1 September. John has decided to take on a new challenge and accept a role as CEO outside our sector. Leon Cuypers will succeed John and has been appointed as the new COO of BU Pork as of 1 September.

John de Jonge: "After a career of almost 30 years at Vion and its predecessors and as COO of BU Pork for the past 3.5 years, I think we have seen a huge transition during these years. A transition that is still taking place and which will remain an enormous challenge in the years to come. The reason I have decided to seize this new opportunity outside the meat sector is a personal one. The new company is in a process of change and is still young. In addition, it has always been my desire to have ultimate responsibility for a company. This opportunity came at the right moment in my life. I hope to put all the experience I have gained over the years into practice in a different environment."

As of 1 July, John will transfer his responsibilities to Leon to ensure a proper handover. John will support Leon in his work until 1 September.

We regret his decision but wish him all the best in his new job," says Ronald Lotgerink, CEO Vion. "Leon has gained extensive experience in various positions within Vion. His current role as Director Business Development for our BU Pork makes him an excellent successor who knows the business and processes well. I am pleased to welcome him as a member of our Executive Committee."

Leon's responsibilities in his current role will be transferred to Freek van den Eijnden who will combine them with his current position as General Manager Ingredients.
