On Monday of last week, Vion started to relocate the slaughter of organic pork pigs from De Groene Weg to Apeldoorn. This department was previously located in Groenlo. The reason for this decision is that Vion wants more focus at each location. This will allow Vion to better respond to growing demand from the market.  
 
The focus is on organic at the Apeldoorn location and this focus provides a number of advantages for De Groene Weg. Production in Apeldoorn is less complex, for example, which means that more attention can be paid to the products. In addition, the barn in Apeldoorn has a different design, which makes it easier to maintain De Groene Weg's high animal welfare standards.

Vion has slaughtered all De Groene Weg pork pigs in Groenlo. We would like to thank the team in Groenlo for their efforts in the intervening years. We would also like to wish the Apeldoorn team success and thank them for their flexibility and efforts in making this move a success.
