Today we are delighted to announce the start of project Maverick to further implement SAP MM into all Beef and Pork locations. SAP MM is a Procurement and Warehousing tool and will be the new standard software to be used for ordering goods, receiving goods, keeping track of the stock of goods and then issuing the goods.  By doing this we take another step to further professionalise our procurement process, improve the administrative process, gain more cost insight and work towards one way of working across Business Units.

Background

Vion chose SAP MM to replace the AXXERION system. In the past SAP MM was fully implemented in Apeldoorn, Groenlo and Scherpenzeel. The result is that the entire process is now optimised and have insight into our stock and the consumption at these locations.

SAP MM gives us insight in the ordering, stock, costs and usage of the materials. Next to that the administrative process is greatly improved. All orders are done via purchase orders (PO) and approved up-front via an automated workflow. Suppliers send the goods and invoice accompanied with this PO.

By registering the incoming goods, purchase order and invoice the system will make a three way match. This saves greatly on the administrative process both locally and in our Shared Service Centres.

After  working with this system for more than two years, it was decided to further implement SAP MM. Project Maverick to implement SAP MM at all Beef and Pork locations will focus on the locations Buchloe, Emstek, Enschede and Tilburg in 2022. The other locations will be planned in 2023.
