External pressure on our company, our people and our activities has increased significantly in recent years. In addition, we have seen a strong increase in (digital) communication, such as social media. Our communication should be easy to understand, consistent and support the business. Through this memo, we would like to inform you about how communication is organised within Vion.​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​A focus on sustainability – for Vion Food Service and its companies SALOMON FoodWorld and FVZ Convenience this topic is relevant on many levels. As part of their sustainability strategy, SALOMON and FVZ have further optimised their logistics to achieve significant CO₂ savings in the area of transportation. They have received recognition for this with the Lean & Green Award.

This year, Omroep Brabant regional broadcaster awarded the public prize for the best commercials of 2021 in the categories Online, Television and Radio for the second time. De Groene Weg's commercial was chosen as 'Best Commercial 2021' in the Television category! Thank you for voting!

For the third year in a row, Vion Retail Groenlo has achieved the highest score in Vion's internal health & safety audit. Such a high score is only possible if safety awareness in the organisation is good and permeates everywhere. Vion Retail Netherlands (the store organisation) improved the most in the internal health & safety audit compared to last year. The BU has also received an award for this. A fine and above all shared result, of which Vion is proud! 

From March 27 till 29, Vion was represented at Foodexpo 2022 in Herning (Denmark).

Foodexpo is one of the most important meeting places for companies within the food industry. Four years since the last Foodexpo, finally we could meet customers, business partners and new potential partners and show them more of our company. Vion’s exposition contained products from four of our plants: Enschede, Scherpenzeel, Bad Bramstedt, FVZ as well as from De Groene Weg.

We would like to inform you that as of 1 May 2022, Geert Rijnders will become Manager Sales Control within the Business Unit Pork. The vacancy for this position arose due to the recent departure of Freek Verwijmeren.

On Thursday 31 March, 23 students from De Veetelers study association visited Vion to celebrate the association's 60th anniversary. Besides Vion, the students also visited the Bavaria brewery in Lieshout and Kamelenmelkerij Smits (camel dairy) in Berlicum.

An enthusiastic group of graduating HAS students met Vion in our Meat Master Centre in Boxtel on 29 March. This Meat & Greet resulted from the HAS Food Experience on 31 January and 1 February 2022. CHRO Binne Visser was a jury member there for the FoodmanShip Awards.

At Vion we bring people together to provide Food that Matters. Food that Matters is safe, healthy and tasty food from sustainable sources. In order to really make a difference, we share concrete results in our CSR report on the important topics relevant to the future of the meat chain.

Last Friday, 25 March, saw the first edition of Around the table with young pig farmers, a Vion initiative for establishing a dialogue with young pig farmers. Sixteen enthusiastic pig farmers were invited to the Meat Master Center to discuss current issues with each other and with Vion. The session's aim was to enter into a dialogue about questions that are relevant to these young professionals. The central topic was 'responding to international demand-driven chains.'

Since 2014 Vion Boxtel and Vion Groenlo Retail locations have changed their phone numbers from +31411xxxxxx or +31544xxxxx to +3188995xxxx.

As of April 1^st,  the former numbers starting with +31411 and +31544 can no longer be used.

As the war in Ukraine continues, people from all over the world are making a massive effort to help the affected Ukrainians. The Young Vion Club has also committed itself to helping Ukraine and started various activities.

We are delighted to announce that from 1 April 2022 Leon Cuypers will take on the new role of Director Business Development for the Business Unit Pork.
